Why a Phillies-Rays World Series Would Be Great…

Every executive at FOX is rooting for the Red Sox to use some of their 2004 and 2007 magic and rally to beat the Rays this week, same for the Dodgers to come back and beat the Phillies. But not me. The Phillies have been the best team in the National League all season long, from their terrific offense to a solid starting staff, to a bullpen that’s been unhittable. It’s no surprise to me that they stand a game away from the World Series. As for the Rays, their story has long since been documented, not since the 1991 Braves had a team go from worst to first and now they need two wins to go the World Series. I know that fans in St. Petersburg have been terrible most of the year, but they’ve come around in September and are loud and into the games. The newness of having two different teams in the World Series is very appealing, the ratings might say otherwise but a Rays-Phillies World Series could have the potential of that Twins-Braves series that most experts say was the best World Series ever played.
